Q. How can design center the lived experiences of children of color with autism in ways that build empathy, challenge bias, and celebrate identity?
A. By leading an illustrated campaign for Autism Awareness Month paired with the launch of five children’s books highlighting the lived experiences of Black boys with autism. The campaign used joyful, culturally affirming visuals and reimagined familiar symbols through vibrant color, expressive typography, and authentic storytelling to promote awareness, empathy, and celebration rather than deficit-based narratives.
