The Opportunity
Vesi is building a fundamentally different model of neighborhood development, one rooted in long-term stewardship, shared ownership, and community stability. However, the complexity of this model made it difficult to communicate clearly to funders, partners, and the public. The challenge was not a lack of substance, but a gap between depth of work and clarity of experience.
At the same time, Vesi needed to engage diverse audiences across multiple formats, including in-person tours, digital platforms, and partnership materials. Without a cohesive system, each interaction risked becoming fragmented, limiting both understanding and momentum.
The opportunity was to translate a complex, systems-level development model into a unified narrative and engagement infrastructure that could scale across properties, audiences, and future growth.
The Shift
The work shifted from isolated deliverables to a cohesive, place-based communication system. Rather than designing individual artifacts, the focus became building a structured narrative foundation that could guide every interaction, from walking tours to digital engagement.
A modular template system was introduced to create consistency across materials while allowing flexibility for different use cases. This enabled Vesi to communicate clearly without recreating work for each new initiative or site.
At the experience level, the shift moved from static information to immersive storytelling. The walking tour framework, narrative arcs, and engagement tools transformed architecture and infrastructure into lived, understandable experiences that connect emotionally and intellectually with audiences.
